Welcome to the Annerley Community Bookshop, here we aim to be a self-supporting, not-for-profit bookshop and community enterprise that re-invests all profits into the development of the organisation and the local community.
We provide a wide range of affordable books and literature to promote and support literacy and reading in the community and meaningful opportunities for engagement with others in the local community for volunteers, committee members, customers and other supporters of the Association.
The Bookshop is staffed by a Manager three days per week and additional assistance is all provided by volunteers. The shop relies on donations of books from organisations and private donors for its stock and holds a range of fiction and non-fiction titles. Management of stock involves initial sorting, categorising and pricing donated books. Most books are placed on the shelves for sale and some rare titles are listed for sale on the internet through ABE books. The Manager and the elected Treasurer take responsibility for day-to-day financial operations associated with operating a small business.
You can find the Annerley Community Bookshop on Ipswich Road, next to Southside Antiques. Once you step inside, you are taken away from the hustle and bustle of the busy road and it’s like you’ve walked into someone’s home. BYO coffee and get comfy on the couch with a book. The Annerley Community Bookshop is just that, a place to bring people together, an inviting space for you to browse pre-loved books and escape for a while.
